Recently I worked with some other local postnatal practitioners to host a workshop for postnatal parents.

Its was the first time for all of us hosting such an event, with different specialisms and expertise and it allowed us to see how our different ideas and focuses fit together.

It was a lovely morning with 5 couples and their babies who were all under 6 months, the first half of the session saw partners learning a baby massage routine with Rachel whilst the postnatal women took part in a discussion session lead by myself and Silvia (who specialises in supporting couples through transitions and changes in their relationship).  After a short break for refreshments in which we did some baby carrying support it was time for partners to join us for discussions whilst the postnatal women took part in a session of relaxing and restorative yoga with Sarah and Maryline.

It was lovely to see people relaxing and enjoying their time together, our programme meant that partners were in charge of the babies for the whole of the workshop. The babies were relaxed and generally settled very well after their massage, and this allowed for plenty of discussion. The discussions were varied and across the two groups we talked about understanding partners experiences, maternal gatekeeping, showing affection and love, feeding experiences, finding your tribe, seeking support, shared experience and how to deal with advice.

Feedback from the event was very positive and we had some lovely comments from participants:
If you’d like to more about these workshops or would like to attend future ones please feel free to get in touch.

Special thanks to Weleda for supplying some lovely goodies for our goodie bags.

For this event I worked with Sarah of Breathing Space Yoga, Maryline of Yoga Sprits, Rachel (baby massage) and Silvia Relationship Coach
